FAQ

Do I have to be in the Neeley School of Business to join?

Delta Upsilon Chapter, according to the Delta Sigma Pi Bylaws, accepts Pre-Business majors as well as those majoring in Economics in the AddRan College of Liberal Arts. If your major is not congruent with these majors, we are not allowed to offer you a bid to our fraternity. Business Minors do not qualify for membership into the fraternity.

Can freshmen join Delta Sigma Pi?

Yes! Freshman are highly encouraged to come to recruitment events for DSP.

How long is the recruitment process?

The recruitment process lasts about two weeks long. We recruit new members once per semester within the first few weeks of class.

How much time will I have to dedicate to the Fraternity?

During the pledging process, you are required to attend weekly pledge meetings. During these meetings, you are required to plan fundraising, professional, service and brotherhood events, depending on which of the four branches you chose to join. Additionally, you will take a series of quizzes and a final exam on information about the Fraternity. If accepted into the Fraternity, we have attendance policies that are required of every brother. If you are concerned about having enough time for Delta Sigma Pi, be sure to talk with current members at the recruitment events regarding your concerns.

Is there a minimum GPA requirement to join Delta Sigma Pi?

Yes, the minimum GPA is a 3.2.

Do I have to attend all of the recruitment events?

No, you do not have to attend all of the recruitment events, but it is highly encouraged. It allows for a lot of current members to meet you and for you to establish rapport while having good conversations. Each perspective new member must attend one "Information Session” and one "Social Event" out of five total. The next step is to send in a resume and PowerPoint (Details on this will be shared at the Information Sessions). If selected to continue on to the next stage, a formal in-person interview will be conducted. After this, the chapter will make its final selection on new members.

What are "Information Sessions"?

Information Sessions are informational meetings about Delta Sigma Pi. We have a presentation from our Senior Vice President and active members. Following the presentation, members will come around to chat with you about DSP and give you an opportunity to ask questions. It is a great way to get to know active brothers and to see what Delta Sigma Pi is all about. Please note that business casual is highly recommended for the Information Sessions.

What should I wear to my formal interview?

Because we are a professional business fraternity, professional attire is recommended. Men may wear a suit/slacks and a tie, and women may wear a suit/slacks and a blouse or a professional dress with appropriate length. However, we understand that many younger students do not have business suits yet. Therefore, dress as appropriately as your wardrobe allows. If you do not own any professional attire and cannot find someone to borrow from, do not be discouraged from attending!

What if I cannot make it to the interview times because of a conflict?

Given the spread-out times and days of these interview slots, we recommend you prioritize this small window of time. However, if needed, contact the Senior Vice President (email is on Executive Board tab under "Brothers" and Contact our Chapter tab under "Contact"), and he may be able to schedule an alternate interview time for you.

How many people are normally selected to become part of the Pledge Class?

There is no specific size for a pledge class in Delta Sigma Pi. Recent pledge classes over the past few years have ranged from 15 to 35 members.
